whoah, is that a pinkstone?
library at pratt
In addition to studying at home for my architecture exams, i have been doing a little library studying. the library at Pratt Institute has several of the books that I need, so in the spirit of frugality- i have been reading there. the library is so pretty. i love the glass floors. it is also really cool because the stacks extend between the floors- so you can glimpse down between the books into the floor below.
in other interesting tidbits- there is a pen machine. i suspect that it does not work- but is still very cool.
study buddies
i have been studying for the ARE- the Architecture Registration Exam. There are 7 tests to take under the new version of the test. The kitties think that they should help with the studying. Dot especially likes to lay across my notes when i am sitting at the desk. sheesh.

mmmmmmozzarella
Today I made my first trip to the A&S Italian Pork Store in Park Slope. They recently moved a few blocks down the street, and I have been meaning to stop by since the new location opened up. I stopped in for prosciutto but when they told me that their fresh mozzarella was still warm, I just had to try some. I got the smallest portion they had- which was still a full pound. Seriously- I think this is one of the most awesome things I have ever eaten. Now the problem is going to be that I am going to eat the entire pound of cheese by myself today.

new bed= new cardboard chair
When we got our new bed- it came in a very large cardboard box. This box was the perfect type of cardboard for making chairs. So- after the box stood in our apartment for a month- I finally spent a Sunday afternoon cutting and folding the chair.
The box spread open barely fit in the living room... The kitties decided to help by laying in the middle, and then providing additional supervision.
Finally- after several long hours of climbing around on the floor... we have a new chair to add to the collection! Zach was dissappointed that we weren't able to get two from the box, but unfortunately it just wasn't proportioned correctly. So- apparently, the living room can be used for chair production! :)
snow? what snow?
As did most of the east coast, we got a lot of snow last week. I think that in Brooklyn, we had between 10 and 12 inches! The photo above is taken from the front door of our apartment building during the snow. And then on Saturday... it was 65 degrees! Zach and I (and the rest of Park Slope) decided to spend Saturday outdoors, since everyone was excited about the "end" of winter. We went for a very long walk in Prospect Park, determined to see parts of the park we hadn't been to before. Below is a photo from the Audobon Center/ Boathouse. This area is very pretty, although I think it will be much more so when the trees have their leaves. Note the shirtless dude in the lower left corner of the photo.
We also came upon two swans builing a nest in the marshes. It was so fantastic to watch! Just a little bit of nature right in the middle Brooklyn!
